Embrace quality part time workers

I read about skills shortages and how employers can’t recruit and retain good staff and how thousands of workers have dropped out of the market after various lockdowns and a major shift in people wanting a better work life balance. Having recently joined the job market how depressing is the offering? Minimum wage and mundane roles not attractive to those of us looking for a new challenge to use our massive knowledge and experience, employer requirements seem out of touch with this vast untapped market, come on employers wake up be more flexible and widen your net to this wonderful pool of people looking to bring value to your business. Consider 2 days of an experienced reliable worker must bring fresh eyes into your organisation and provide mentoring skills to work alongside with your developing talent. For me I’ve worked in adult trading for years I would love to explore a new sector, realistically salary requirements are a fair wage befitting the role, more importantly the opportunity to work part time and locally is key. Volunteer opportunities are all very well but some of us still need to earn something and not ready to work for free just yet. Food for thought I do hope so, people keep telling me something will show up, will it, fingers crossed 🤞
